Capacity Building Workshop on HERIT ADAPT XR Technologies

20/06/2026
On 18 June 2026, Sapienza University of Rome hosted a Capacity Building Workshop dedicated to the innovative extended reality (XR) technologies developed within HERIT ADAPT.
The workshop brought together 22 participants to explore how immersive digital technologies can enhance the interpretation and communication of cultural heritage while supporting sustainable tourism.
Participants took part in a live technology demonstration, showcasing the HERIT ADAPT XR applications designed for the Roman Houses of the Celio Hill, followed by a series of hands-on content design exercises, gaining practical experience with the project’s XR tools and methodologies.
The workshop strengthened participants’ digital skills and demonstrated how immersive technologies can be integrated into heritage interpretation without compromising the authenticity of historic sites.
The capacity-building activities represent an important step towards ensuring that the HERIT ADAPT proposed solutions remain practical, accessible, and replicable, enabling cultural heritage organisations to develop engaging visitor experiences that foster sustainability, education, and wider public participation.
