On 22 and 23 June 2026, the HERIT ADAPT project participated in the fifth edition of CM Málaga – Culture & Museums International Tech Forum, held at the Trade Fair and Congress Center of Málaga (FYCMA), Spain. The event has become one of the leading international forums dedicated to the digital transformation of cultural heritage, bringing together museums, public authorities, universities, technology companies, and cultural professionals to discuss the opportunities and challenges of innovation and emerging technologies in the heritage sector.
Throughout the event, HERIT ADAPT was represented with an exhibition stand where visitors had the opportunity to learn about the project’s objectives, ongoing activities, and main achievements. The stand served as a meeting point for professionals and stakeholders interested in innovative approaches to cultural heritage preservation, climate adaptation, and sustainable tourism management, fostering knowledge exchange and opportunities for future collaboration.
In addition to the exhibition space, Ana García López, researcher at the University of Granada, participated as the moderator of a panel discussion, bringing together national and international experts to explore the challenges and opportunities associated with the digital transformation of cultural heritage. The discussion highlighted the role of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, digital twins, extended reality, and smart monitoring systems, in enhancing heritage conservation, improving accessibility, enriching visitor experiences, and promoting more sustainable tourism models.
HERIT ADAPT’s presence at CM Málaga 2026 significantly enhanced the project’s international visibility and provided a strategic platform to disseminate technological and methodological developments across its pilot sites. The event also strengthened collaboration between cultural institutions, research organisations, and technology providers, promoting the exchange of best practices and knowledge transfer in the fields of digital heritage and climate resilience.
With more than 180 participating organisations from various countries, CM Málaga 2026 reaffirmed its position as a key international forum for innovation, sustainability, and cooperation in the cultural and heritage sectors. Over the two-day programme, discussions focused on artificial intelligence, immersive experiences, museum digitalisation, accessibility, smart heritage management, and emerging technologies aimed at addressing current challenges faced by cultural institutions.
