11/05/2026

On 10 May 2026, a Citizens’ Awareness Campaign was held in Limassol, bringing together 45 participants, including citizens and representatives of environmental NGOs, to strengthen stakeholder engagement in protecting cultural and natural heritage from the impacts of climate change.

The event introduced participants to the objectives of the HERIT ADAPT project, its innovative digital tools, and sustainable tourism practices designed to enhance the resilience of heritage sites. Through interactive presentations and discussions, attendees explored the environmental challenges affecting cultural heritage and exchanged views on effective climate adaptation measures.

The campaign provided a valuable platform for knowledge exchange, encouraging dialogue and collaboration between environmental organisations, local communities, and tourism stakeholders, highlighting the vital role of citizen participation in strengthening the long-term sustainability and climate resilience of cultural and natural heritage. Participants shared perspectives on the importance of integrating environmental protection, digital innovation, and sustainable tourism to safeguard heritage destinations for future generations.

The event was organized by the Limassol Tourism Development & Promotion Company, HERIT ADAPT partner.
