On 28 October 2025, a dynamic citizen science workshop brought together primary school students in an engaging learning experience focused on cultural heritage and digital innovation. The event was organized in collaboration with the Dubrovnik Development Agency (DURA), Lapad Primary School, and the Dubrovnik Technical Culture Community, within the framework of the HERIT ADAPT project.
The workshop aimed to raise awareness among young participants about the importance of preserving and sustainably managing cultural heritage. At the same time, students were introduced to innovative digital tools used in the project to support the valorisation of historical sites.
Hosted at Lapad Primary School, the workshop provided hands-on experience with Tinkercad, a user-friendly digital platform for 3D design. Students developed basic 3D modelling skills by creating digital replicas of historical chests, using photographs taken during a previous visit to the Rector’s Palace. This activity allowed them to connect traditional heritage with modern technology, fostering creativity and interactive learning.
As part of an international citizen science campaign, the workshop contributes to the broader dissemination of HERIT ADAPT project results. It plays a key role in bringing the project closer to the public and encouraging active community participation, particularly among younger generations, in the preservation, digitisation, and promotion of cultural heritage.
Through initiatives like this, students not only enhance their digital competencies but also deepen their understanding of local history and identity. By engaging with heritage in a meaningful and innovative way, they become part of a new generation that values cultural heritage within the context of sustainable development.
