HERIT ADAPT final local event in Genoa

15/06/2026
On 12 June 2026, the final local event of HERIT ADAPT was organized at the Museum E. Chiossone in Genoa, bringing together stakeholders, partners, and institutional representatives to present the project’s main results and achievements.
HERITADAPT focused on strengthening the resilience of cultural and natural heritage through sustainable tourism, climate change adaptation, and citizen engagement, with pilot approaches combining on-site interventions and digital innovation.
A key outcome from the pilot activities in Genoa, included new vertical signage systems in selected areas of Genoa’s historic centre and Villetta Di Negro park. The aim is to support more balanced tourist flows, by guiding visitors to nearby attractions, contributing to the reduction of overtourism in the UNESCO site “Le Strade Nuove and the System of the Palazzi dei Rolli”.
The project also advanced digital heritage preservation through the creation of high-resolution 3D digital models of ten Japanese armours from the Museum’s permanent collection (https://www.museidigenova.it/it/larmatura-giapponese-0). These artefacts, dating from the 16th to 19th century, were digitised using 360-degree scanning to produce accurate and photorealistic digital twins. These models support conservation, research, and public access, enabling continuous consultation of cultural objects even when they are not physically displayed, while also reducing handling and supporting preservation strategies.
Participants were thanked for their active contribution in the process, with special recognition given to the University of Genoa, for its essential support.
