1st On-site Visit of the European Project HERIT ADAPT 3D Modeling of the Temple of Apollo Hylates

The Limassol Tourism Development and Promotion Company as a partner of the European project “HERIT ADAPT – HERItage and territory resilience through sustainable Tourism climate change ADAPtation and ciTizen engagement” of the Interreg Euro – MED sustainable tourism mission project HERIT ADAPT, held a meeting on Friday, October 4, 2024, with Mr. Argyris Fellas, Head of the Model Workshop at the Department of Architecture; Dr. Grigoris Kalnis, Architect Engineer and Urban Designer, Frederick University; and Mrs. Katerina Papanikolaou, Archaeological Officer of the Department of Antiquities.

During the meeting, the objectives and methodologies of the HERIT ADAPT project were discussed, emphasizing the importance of innovative technologies in heritage preservation. The participants shared insights into the various techniques for 3D modeling, which will be instrumental in accurately documenting the Temple of Apollo Hylates. The meeting participants explored how these models can enhance both research and public engagement, allowing for a deeper understanding of the site’s historical significance.

Additionally, the project timeline was outlined and key milestones were identified. The collaborative efforts among the team members are expected to yield valuable results, fostering a multidisciplinary approach to heritage documentation.

The first step towards implementing this initiative are taken within the framework of the European project HERIT ADAPT Interreg Euro-Med, with a special focus on the 3D modeling of the Temple of Apollo Hylates. This endeavor not only aims to preserve cultural heritage but also seeks to promote sustainable tourism in the region, providing a model for similar projects in the future.
