What we do
The HERIT ADAPT Sustainable Tourism Model provides a practical framework to help heritage destinations respond to climate change and tourism pressures through a cyclical process of assessment, collaboration and adaptive action.
The model:
- Builds on local needs, existing strategies and proven technologies
- Engages stakeholders to co-create Sustainable and Resilient Tourism Strategies
- Promotes heritage as a driver for climate resilience and sustainable tourism
- Supports the transfer of validated solutions and knowledge across territories
The Sustainable Tourism Model is built around four complementary Use Cases (UC), combining data, technology and governance.
The transfer approach adapts these validated Use Cases to new territorial contexts while maintaining the HERIT ADAPT methodology.
Transfer Process
Building on the results of the Testing phase, HERIT ADAPT plus focuses on transferring and adapting the validated methodology to new territories across the Euro-MED region. The transfer process begins with feasibility and needs assessments in each receiving territory, followed by the adaptation of the methodology to local conditions. Through capacity-building activities, Communities of Practice, workshops and targeted training, stakeholders are supported in applying the methodology within their own practices and governance frameworks.
