

Since 11 August 2025, the UNESCO World Heritage town of Villefranche-de-Conflent (Occitanie, France) has been equipped with three eco-counters to track visitor movements in and out of the fortified town

This initiative — part of the Herit Adapt pilot project — will provide key data on tourism pressure, helping strike the right balance between heritage preservation and sustainable tourism
.

Led by CRTL Occitanie and the Syndicat Mixte Canigó Grand Site, in collaboration with the Mayor of Villefranche, these tools will remain in place for one year to guide future management of this unique site.
